2 Corinthians 5:17-20—Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, Who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.
The hero stands and surveys the majestic scene. His ears catch the music of one anthem after another as the London Philharmonic Orchestra plays in honor of each nation represented. His eyes scan the dignitaries of 140 different nations as they mingle--Zambians, Koreans, Brazilians, Turks, Ukranians, Indians, Filipinos, Costa Ricans, French, Nigerians, Chinese. . .
Spectacular and exotic gifts from all over the planet fill a tent the size of a football field. Countless friends have traveled the globe to be here. Bulbs incessantly flash. Microphones and wires seem as numerous as the branches of the stately olive tree centered in the pavilion. At the sound of triumphant trumpets all heads turn to the man. Jesus walks down the red carpet to receive the newly minted World-Medallion of Honor. Heaven's 2000 year-old ambassador to earth walks to the center of the platform, and before the hanging microphones says . . .
NO!!! God did not plan it this way. Jesus did not establish residency on earth for a 2000-year stint as heaven's ambassador. His Father brought His death-conquering, sin-quenching, cross-carrying, champion Son home to heaven.
You, that's right--you, received the royal nod from God to be His ambassador. Now get going. There is a world out there waiting to hear God's appeal that your lips were meant to share. You, along with all of Jesus' disciples, represent God. What greater honor could one have than to be His spokesperson!
