COVETOUSNESS

Psalm 40:8—I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.

King David possessed an outstanding heart for God. His desires revolved around pleasing God, knowing His will and obeying His commands. I believe the cure to covetousness is unbridled passion to know God. If we attack our lust for money or possessions we are doomed to fail because we are competing against our natural flesh. The solution to lust is to set our hearts on "things above". We cannot remain enamored with what the world offers if we are stoking the coals of passion for God Himself. "Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You."—Psalm 73:25
