1 Timothy 1:5—The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
I was spending time with the Lord not long ago when the thought came to my mind, don’t watch the Odyssey tonight. Instantly a battle commenced. Where did that thought come from? Why shouldn’t I watch the Odyssey? There is nothing wrong . . . All day long I rationalized against that "random" thought. Deep inside I knew the gentle unmistakable voice of the Holy Spirit was at work. I watched the Odyssey. There was nothing wrong with what I saw. But a friend called to say a relative had died. She was getting ready to go on a trip and wanted to let me know and see what work needed to be completed before she left. I did not give her the attention she deserved because the Odyssey was about to begin. Had I listened to the small message I would have been ready for the hurting voice. God knew. The test of conscience is not always measured by whether what I do is right or wrong but rather by my willingness to obey.
