INTERFERENCE

We are watching the big game and all of a sudden the screen gets blotchy and the picture is terrible. Something is interfering with the signal. I hate it when that happens!

God is doing a wonderful work in the life of one of His children. He is allowing suffering to take place because He is building character. But we in our humanness miss what He is doing. We assume that we know best. So we step in to “fix” whatever is going wrong. In the process we hinder what God is trying to do. I wonder if the angels “hate it when that happens”.

Meditation

Mark 10:14—When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Before you or I go interfering in the lives of those around us we must be certain that we are led by the Holy Spirit and not our own overweighted sense of mercy or duty. If the chrysalis is prematurely opened the butterfly will die. It will never fly for its wings will not have attained the strength God meant the cocoon to develop. Likewise, if we attempt surgery on the lives of people we love to help them we may in fact harm them. God did not make us Holy spirits but Homo sapiens. There is a difference.

Do you know someone struggling? Offer to pray. Extend as much love and kindness as you can. But only take action in accordance with the leading and blessing of the Holy Spirit. I thank God as I look back in my life, for those people who were wise enough to let me struggle, who refused to prematurely bail me out.

Are you struggling? Are you tempted to fabricate some shortcut to alleviate your circumstances? What we see as bad, God may see for our good. Trust in the One Who will never leave you or forsake you. Something to think about . . . in reveration.

Inspiration

One of the severest lessons we get comes from our stubborn refusal to see that we must not interfere in other people’s lives. It takes a long time to realize the danger of being an amateur providence, that is, interfering with God’s orders for others.—Oswald Chambers in So Send I You

May God enable us to stop trying to help Him, and may we let Him do what He likes with us.—Oswald Chambers in As He Walked

The fear of the Lord will keep us from compromising god’s truth for the pursuit of personal gain.—John Bevere in The Fear of the Lord
