Surely this is one of the most profound verses in the Bible! If the President of the United States walked up to you and suggested you stick with him and follow his insights and he would fulfill whatever you wished for, it would not take long to realize there are many things the President with all his power cannot do. He cannot provide eternal security. He cannot overcome lustful thoughts. He cannot assure lasting joy...
What company or army or famous personality or television show or actor or book or religious leader can exert the power that God exerts through His Word and through His presence? Jesus Christ knew that if we would devote the time and energy to listen to His teaching and obey His instruction the impact of His words would literally change our lives. We, being in tune with Him, would know what to ask for, and He would answer or requests. Why spend time being molded by that which cannot deliver? Set aside time with God and protect that time with your life. The result will be a process of spiritual transformation that will truly blow your socks off!
