BARRIERS

Habakkuk 3:17-19—Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to go on the heights.

A businessman recently took a trip during the holidays. Returning home he discovered the pipes in his Bull Mountain home had frozen and burst and that for two days the water had run causing $50,000. in damage!

Have you ever had days in your life where the concept of tranquility seems forever beyond reach? The children need braces, the roof is leaking, the car is in the shop, the boss contemplates another round of layoffs!!!

If there are obstacles in your life causing you to be discouraged take heart! Let God reveal His strength through your weakness. Let Him take what seems broken or out of place or frustrating or grievous and refine your character so that you will be even more Christ-like! He will do the work if we will just allow Him! The best time to praise God is in the middle of the battle. There’s no barrier God cannot overcome if we’ll trust Him!

Inspiration

The inevitable barriers are there in every one of our lives . . . they are there not by chance but entirely by God’s permission, and they should be faced and not ignored . . . The peril of the inevitable barriers is that if I have not faced the facts sufficiently, I am apt to blame God for them.—Oswald Chambers in Shade of His Hand
