Acts 4:31—After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
It is the nature of man to exalt the experience as opposed to experience what is exalted. How rich it is to be shaken! Yet the glory is not found in the emotional surge. The Apostles did not start The First Church of the Shakees. They did not fall victim to exalting their experiences they witnessed with fervor about Jesus.
The glory is in knowing God! The glory is in obeying His word. The glory is in experiencing the fruit of the Spirit. The glory is in the boldness in sharing Christ under the leading of the Holy Spirit. Beware of racking up frequent flyer miles rushing from one reported citing of God’s Spirit at work to another. If we chase after tongues of fire we’ve missed the whole point of filling! If we must travel to find where God’s Spirit is at work, then our entire relationship with Him is suspect. God is here alive and well, looking to be glorified in those willing to prove faithful.
