Proverbs
In the marketplace of life it is a tempting thing to measure our spiritual worth by the applause of people. But an apple can look good on the outside and be rotten in the middle. A watermelon can be huge and yet be devoid of sweetness.
What makes God so special is His ability to see beyond the external. He knows our thoughts. He sees what we do when no one else can. There is no impressing God with a show of Christianity if inside there is no Christ. God is not honored when we wave our verbal banners of praise if our inner character is selfish. As a parent, how loved would you feel if your child chose to allot you one designated hour per week on Sunday? Can you imagine how strained your relationship would be if out of 168 hours in a week, you were only worth 1 hour! I hope our love for God far outweighs a once-a-week sitting.
Our worth is measured in the little things—taking time to talk to our always-listening Father. Hearing His quiet voice and obeying His lead. Spending time in the Bible so that we may grow spiritually. The challenge for us is to make knowing Him our priority! Make this your ambition—to know God. When He searches your heart, may He find a reservoir of hunger for Him, a vibrant love, a zeal to be like Jesus, a mind to serve, a humility that pleases, a spirit that yearns to sit in the lap of Daddy—the Father Who is always there for you.
