Psalm 32:5,10—Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Many are the woes of the wicked but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in Him.
Should’ve Been
Will You open up Your arms when You know I’ve fallen down;
When I’ve stumbled and I’ve hurt You once again?
Though I said that I would follow I’ve waited for tomorrow
I’m tired of having to say, “I should’ve been . . .
I should’ve been a faithful witness not a coward.
I should’ve been an honest man to make You proud.
I should’ve come when You first called; I should’ve done just what You said.
I should’ve died to all the things that make me dead.
I should have loved the ones right here I know as neighbors!
I should have listened instead of opening up my mouth.
I should’ve come when You first called; I should’ve done just what You said.
Lord, it’s time to put this selfish man to bed.
Will You open up my eyes so I have You in my sight?
Will You give me strength to live the way I should?
Will You help me die to self and take me off the shelf.
I’m so tired of having to say, “I should’ve been . . .
Will You take me to the cross, where You suffered for my gain
Will You break my heart and make it whole again?
Lord, I truly am persuaded that You alone are able,
To change my heart until the words are said . . .
I am a faithful, standing witness to Your power.
I am an honest man whose word is sure as gold.
I come running when You call me; I will do just what You say.
I’m the living light that honors You each day.
I put my neighbor’s needs above my own obsessions.
I’m known as wise now, for listening very well.
I come running when You call me; and I do just what You say.
I’m alive to You and dead to should’ve been.
