Now why would I as the pastor put up signs? Surely that was a responsibility that should be delegated. Well, maybe so. But until God raised up someone with a heart that rejoiced in setting up signs, He gave me a strong sense of conviction that was to do it! I enjoyed doing it because it was for the Lord. There is no such thing as an unimportant task if it is done for the Lord.
If for some reason I didn’t set out the signs, people in our community often asked me, "Is your church still meeting? Is everything okay?" I cannot tell you how many folks came and worshiped with us because they saw our sign and responded. Beautiful. The simple act of advertising resulted in someone joining us for fellowship to worship God!
If God gives you a conviction, it is for your betterment. So don’t argue with Him. Don’t rationalize why someone else should do what He’s asked you to do. Don’t complain about how you’ve had to work so hard and nobody appreciates your effort or that the work is beneath your stature! Don’t make excuses with your all-knowing Creator. Don’t wimp out! Be faithful. Bill Cosby once said, "There's no labor a man can do that's undignified, if he does it right."
Whether God calls us to some task or to change our attitude, if His Holy Spirit has impressed upon our heart the rightness of an action we must do it. And the sooner we figure this out the quicker we can get back to living joyfully!
