Philippians 1:27—Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel.
There are some words we can easily gloss over in reading Scripture. The words ‘worthy of the gospel’ ought to jump right out and seize us. We tend to feel good about those battles in which we emerge victorious after saying 'no' to temptation. But what about those times we choose to engage in activities that are good but have nothing to do with where the Holy Spirit would take us? For example, I can spend time reading a great book and miss the leading of the Spirit who has opened an opportunity for me to share with my neighbor about Christ.
Being worthy of the gospel, implies obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit to leave that which I rationalize as good to obey what He dictates as best.
